Sydney indie outfit Jinja Safari have taken to their Facebook page to call it quits, after six busy years as a mainstay on the festival circuit and on triple j's airwaves.

The band write, "While we’ve loved every minute of creating new music and performing on stage, we have reached a cross roads in the career and as a result we have decided to call it a day.

"It has been an extremely difficult decision to make but feel that ultimately, it's the best thing for all members of the group."

The band released new music mid-last year in the form of singles, Find My Way, Accident and Kilimanjaro, having performed on Big Day Out, Falls Fest, Splendour In The Grass and the UK's The Great Escape over the course of their career.
