Production to be filmed and screened worldwide.

Laurence Connor's 21st century re-invention of Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber's rock opera Jesus Christ Superstar, starring Aussie comedian Tim Minchin, will be filmed at London's O2 Arena, and screened in selected cinemas worldwide.

The filmed production will hit over 60 screens Australia-wide from Thursday 8 November for one week only.

Connor's Jesus Christ Superstar recently finished its 21-date arena tour in the UK, featuring a line-up that includes Minchin as Judas alongside former Spice Girl Melanie C, radio DJ Chris Moyles, and television talent show winner Ben Forster.

Though the modernised production has received a vast amount of criticism - it received one star from The Guardian, and Time Out claimed the production struggled to "hang together" - Tim Minchin has been highlighted for priase, with The Independent noting "Best of all is Aussie Matilda composer and performer Tim Minchin as Judas, moving from moral prurience to disaffected disciple and traitor with snarling, screeching cynicism."
