Yarrabah Music and Cultural Festival returns to the Jilara Football Oval in Far North Queensland on Saturday, 7 October. It’s an all-ages, free show to soak in the music, visual arts, and much more.

The festival doesn’t just offer music; it also showcases other creative endeavours, such as weaving, wood artefact making, and shell necklaces, and for those of us who have complained about festival food, at Yarrabah Music and Cultural Festival, you can participate in damper making workshops. The workshops will incur a fee.

The free event is headlined by none other than the legendary Jessica Mauboy, with Electric Fields, Jessie Lloyd and the Yarrabah Brass Band featuring on the star-studded line-up. While attending the event is free, you need to register via Moshtix.

“I am more than honoured to be headlining Yarrabah Music & Cultural Festival this year for QLD Music Trails,” Jessica Mauboy exclaimed in a statement. “I am looking forward to October and can’t wait to see all the smiling faces in Yarrabah on Gunggandji Country! See you all there!”

The crowning achievement of the Tropics Trail segment of Queensland Music Trails, the Yarrabah Music and Cultural Festival is brought to North Queensland by QMF and the Yarrabah Aboriginal Shire Council.

Local Mayor Ross Andrews added, “Yarrabah Music and Cultural Festival drives significant visitation and positive social and economic impact for the region, and a headliner like Jessica Mauboy is a great way to put Yarrabah on the map as one of the world’s most unique music festivals.

“To have one of Australia’s most successful artists performing as part of our 2023 event is a major coup. We look forward to welcoming Jessica to the region for a full day of live music, food stalls, local art, culture and kids rides.”

Joel Edmonson, QMF & Qld Music Trails CEO, said, “Yarrabah Music and Cultural Festival is very dear to QMF’s heart, and we are thrilled to be able to work with the community to deliver a great experience again for people around the country. There are few other places in Australia that you can participate in an experience of country like this.”
