First Nations music festival Treaty Day Out will return for its fourth edition this March, with the full lineup – headed up by such deadly heavyweights as Jessica Mauboy, Electric Fields and Mo’Ju – announced today (January 11).

This year’s festival – once again helmed by the First Peoples’ Assembly of Victoria – will be the first to take place in Ballarat (on Wadawurrung Country), going down at the historic City Oval on Saturday March 2. Tickets are already on sale, too – head here to grab yours.

Free access will be granted to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples who are enrolled with the Assembly; if you’re eligible for enrolment but haven’t sorted it out just yet, you can head here to get on top of that. Kids aged 15 and under can also go for free, and there’s a dedicated allocation of concession and companion tickets available for concession card holders.

In addition to the aforementioned trio of artists, the 2024 Treaty Day Out lineup features fast-rising rap supergroup 3% (Nooky, Dallas Woods and Angus Field), Scott Darlow, Blackfire, Brolga, Madi Colville-Walker, Jada Weazel and Canisha. The festival itself will also host craft stalls, activities, food trucks and more.

Following her headlining performance at last year’s Treaty Day Out, Mauboy said of her return to the festival in 2024: “I’m so excited to be back performing at another Treaty Day Out. I can't wait to share the stage with this deadly line up on Wadawurrung Country.”

Sharing the excitement is Bradley Brown – general manager of Songlines Music Aboriginal Corporation, who are co-presenting the event with the inclusion of Songlines artist Canisha – who said in a statement of his own: “What a lineup! From established musical artists to cutting-edge new talent, the day will have something for everyone. We’re really excited to be partnering with Treaty Day Out and can’t wait to celebrate our culture and music with everyone.”

According to Gunditjmara man Rueben Berg – co-chair of the First Peoples’ Assembly of Victoria – Treaty Day Out is “an opportunity to showcase the excellence of First Nations musicians and to emphasise the message for mob to enrol and walk with us on the journey towards Treaty in Victoria.”

Rueben said in today’s press release: “We’re on track to enter negotiations on a statewide Treaty with the Victorian Government this year. This is a moment I’ve been waiting for my whole life. So if you’re mob, help get Treaty done – enrol with the Assembly and then you can enjoy a deadly day out.”
