Will Marcia Hines return to Australian Idol next year?

When the reboot of the beloved reality singing competition returned to our screens earlier this year, the moments with Marcia were the best ones. Her presence is undeniable warmth and compassion and radiates guidance for young singers trying to find their way through the Australian music industry.

Appearing on the Jess Rowe Big Talk Show podcast this week, Hines hinted at her return to the series when the next season arrives. “It looks like I’m doing it again this year,” she shared. “I look forward to it.”

On her original Australian Idol run, she continued, “It was a wonderful thing to nurture and try and help people who just want to be in the entertainment business.

“These kids were plucked out of obscurity and thrown on the biggest TV show Australia has ever seen. And it was just before social media got crazy.” You can listen to the complete podcast episode here.

Earlier this year, Hines appeared on the Australian Idol reboot, an experience she felt “honoured” by. “I’m returning to Australian Idol in 2023 as a guest judge!” Hines said. "I feel honoured to have been asked to come back. Australian Idol is a great vehicle for uncovering some fantastic Australian talent. What a ride!”
