US supergroup Infectious Grooves have been in the studio, and they’ve recorded a new song with new member, ex-Slipknot drummer Jay Weinberg.

The band – Rob Trujillo (bass, Metallica), Suicidal Tendencies vocalist Mike Muir and guitarist Dean PleasantsVelvet Revolver guitarist Dave Kushner and Weinberg – shared the news via the Suicidal Tendencies Instagram account yesterday (27 February).

Posting a studio pic starring the band in the studio with punk-rock producer and musician Tim Armstrong, the band revealed that former guitarist Adam Siegel was dragged “out of retirement” to play on the track, and former Queens Of The Stone Age drummer Joey Castillo let the band use his drums.

Infectious Grooves also teased that more updates will be coming soon: “Infectious Grooves is in the house! (And the studio!)”

Ramping up excitement for fans of Weinberg, the band wrote that he “beat and grooved the hell out of them! Was so much fun watching him do his thing, and start everything off with a blast.”

Australian fans could be the first in the world to hear new Infectious Grooves music played live, with the funk-metal band set to perform at Bluesfest and a run of headline sideshows.

Trujillo said about the upcoming Australian tour dates – which you can find below, “I’m super stoked to venture back to Australia and reconnect with my Aussie surf contingent, as well as celebrate 30 years of Infectious Grooves with a few gigs down under!”

Muir added, “Infectious Grooves is gonna bring a super special extra Funk and Punk and everything in between raging gigs to Australia. These shows are short notice, but we guarantee they are gonna be full of ass-kicking, toe-tapping, bass-slapping, drum attacking, and high-octane roller-coaster grooves!”

Weinberg, marking his first live appearances after ten years with Slipknot, concluded: “It’s an absolute honour to play with the legendary Infectious Grooves on this incredibly exciting Australian tour! Playing with some of my favourite musicians in one of the most beautiful countries, for some of the greatest fans of heavy music in the world… I couldn’t be more thrilled to get started. See you all soon!”
