The legendary muso will play three shows for his "Best Of Jethro Tull" Aussie tour

Renowned Jethro Tull flautist/vocalist Ian Anderson has announced that he will be returning to Australia with a catalogue-spanning Best Of Jethro Tull retrospective this December.

It's been 42 years since the seminal Brit experimentalists released their iconic Thick As A Brick LP, and, in honour of that (fairly loose) milestone, Anderson will be revisiting the album, as well as tracks from fifth solo album Thick As A Brick 2, classic cuts such as Aqualung and Locomotive Breath, and early gems such as Bouree, which originally appeared on the band's sophomore record Stand Up (1969).

The luminous, genre-defying musician will also shine a spotlight on selected works from his most recent solo effort, Homo Erraticus, which was released a couple of months ago, in April.

The tour kicks off at the Sydney Opera House on Thursday, December 11, and takes in Brisbane's QPAC Concert Hall on December 13 before wrapping up at Melbourne's Palais Theatre on December 15.
