More Honest Crooks More Honest Crooks

Winston McCall loves Honest Crooks - how can he not? In an article for Knotfest that tracks the ten bands championing heavy music in Australia, the Parkway Drive singer said about the Newcastle hardcore band: "Hits harder than a cement haymaker. More albums, please."

Today, Honest Crooks announce that their debut album, The Sounds Of Hell, will be released on Friday, 10 February 2023, via EVP Recordings (Psycroptic, Disentomb, Zeolite). That's not all; the band also unveils the first single, Furnace Of Rage, a hardcore-meets-death-metal barnstormer and shares details about their next tour: the Hell Across Australia will take place a week after the album's release.

Vocalist Brodie Graham commented about the new single: "Just because you're in the presence of a police officer does not inherently mean that you are safe, and it is my belief, from my experiences, that you are more likely to be in danger. Fuck everyone who says that if you weren't doing the wrong thing, nothing bad would have happened to you because I am telling you that is not true. This song is about an abuse of power."

After facing band lineup changes throughout the years, the arrival of The Sounds Of Hell is a heavy music miracle. Honest Crooks are a band firing on all cylinders who are sure to make waves with their next release.

As a group of musicians who blend hardcore, metalcore, slam, and everything heavy in between, we wonder, how do they make it work?! Bassist Lewy Glass caught up with Kill Your Stereo in 2018 and said, "When we first started the band, our goal was to make music purely to mosh to.

"We want to be the heaviest band in Australia (which may be difficult as long as Disentomb are active), so we take the heaviest parts from each of those genres you mentioned above, and then some, blend them all together and make a concoction of heaviness in the most tasteful way we can. On Suffer, we showcased more elements of technicality and melody compared to our older material but still kept all our punching elements of mosh and beatdown to keep the moshers happy and the energy levels high at our shows."
