New Aussie Festival Postponed Last Minute

A Hobart music festival set to make its debut this weekend has been postponed last minute.

In a statement released today, organisers of Bass In The Domain – headlined by controversial rock outfit Sticky Fingers - cited “unforeseeable circumstances” for the rescheduling of this Saturday’s event to April 15.

“We understand that this announcement may be disappointing, and we sincerely apologize for any inconvenience caused,” Bass In The Domain said. 

The news arrives a week after Sticky Fingers’ appearance at Bluesfest 2023 was cancelled, although Bass In The Domain has not linked their schedule shift to the band, who are still billed to perform the new date.

In their statement, they pointed to a number of “things beyond our control”, including “the potential for unfortunate weather”.

Saturday’s forecast does not predict any wild events, but speaking with The Mercury this week, promoter Pritesh Ranjitkar said that the decision to delay was made last week.

Ranjitkar said they were “checking the weather constantly” and postponed over fear of potential “thunderstorms and rain” at the time of the decision.

It’s been confirmed that “all previously purchased tickets will remain valid” for the April show, which will also feature Tyne James Organ, SUMNER, The Delta Riggs and more.

The only artist unable to perform the new date is New Zealand’s JessB, who will be touring the US at the time.

Those unable to make the new date are able to request a refund until 6pm next Monday, March 13.
