This November marks the 20th anniversary of Guy Sebastian winning the first-ever Australian Idol crown. To celebrate, why not return to the venue where his life changed forever?

On Sunday, 10 December, Sebastian will perform a one-off XX Double Decade Celebration concert – his only performance of 2023 – at the Sydney Opera House Forecourt. The show is presented by KIIS radio, and tickets will be sold via Live Nation.

“I wasn’t going to tour until more new music was out,” Sebastian began in a press release. “I have really had so much to be thankful for though, so it would be a shame to not celebrate this moment with a lot of the fans who gave me this opportunity all those years ago.

“Twenty years ago when I was standing on the very same steps at the Opera House, I couldn’t of imagined that I would be back here still doing what I love, so come celebrate with me!”

In a Facebook post, Sebastian added, “For this one off show, I’m going to dive back into the catalogue, choose songs that have always been fan favourite’s, maybe some that I’ve haven’t even performed before… and even some songs from Idol all those years ago. It will be a night under the stars that I won’t forget – can’t wait to see you there!”

The Live Nation pre-sale for Sebastian’s upcoming Double Decade Celebration concert opens on Friday, 22 September, at 10 am. General public tickets go on sale on Monday, 25 September, at 10 am. You can find tickets here.

Last month, Sebastian unveiled his first new song in three years, I Chose Good. In typical current-day Guy Sebastian songs, it’s a pop-meets-soul banger in the fashion of Black Eyed Peas’ Where Is The Love. Then, the choir section complements Sebastian’s immense vocal range and adds colour to an already positive single.

I Chose Good follows his 2020 album, TRUTH. Upon releasing the album, Sebastian told The Music, “I've got this new sense of purpose in the way that I write and the way that I make music.”

Featuring some of his biggest hits, including Choir, Before I Go, and Let Me DrinkThe Music discovered that the former was one of the most streamed songs by an Australian artist in 2020.
