Guns N' Roses kicked off their 16-show European and UK run in Portugal this weekend with a massive setlist of 27 tracks that featured some shock inclusions.

The legendary rock outfit will be touring in Australia later this year, performing in stadiums across the country throughout November and December.

In their set in Portugal, the band pull out a cover of AC/DC's Walk All Over You for the first time. The track was a callback to AC/DC's iconic record Highway To Hell and was sung originally by Bon Scott. The band also performed their own deep cut Reckless Life, which was performed for the first time since 1993. The track is one of the band's earliest musical compositions. The setlist also featured new tracks Absurd and Hard Skool.

The band's long-awaited return to Australia came up against some controversy last December when promoter TEG Dainty received $600,000 for the tour as part of the RISE Fund.

The six-figure sum was to assist with rescheduling the massive Australian run, which was pushed back from last November to late 2022 due to the Delta outbreak in the country.

When the tour was first announced in late 2020, promoter Paul Dainty said: "Announcing an international tour of this magnitude as we come out of the most challenging year in the history of live entertainment is truly gratifying. We're all eager to return to business as usual and who better to lead the charge into international stadium touring than the mighty Guns N' Roses.

"Witnessing the classic line-up of Axl Rose, Slash and Duff McKagan, reunited, on Australian stages during this historic band's previous Not In This Lifetime tour was an unforgettable experience for fans and the reviews were unanimously glowing."

The band’s 2017 run was met with a wealth of praise, with The Music review Gareth Williams noting their Perth show left “a stadium full of very satisfied punters”, while writer Mick Radojkovic noted it was “a huge return; on time and matured, but still as good as ever” and Cristiana Linthwaite Gibbins said, “They gave their audience an absolute night to remember.”

The tour also featured a surprise appearance on stage from Angus Young in Melbourne and Sydney, while drummer Frank Ferrer jammed at a local venue during the trip.
