More Halestorm More Halestorm

Sophie Lloyd, known for her work as Machine Gun Kelly’s guitarist and her significant TikTok presence, has unleashed the title track from her upcoming debut solo album, Imposter Syndrome.

Enlisting the powerhouse vocalist of US rock band Halestorm, Lzzy Hale, Lloyd sounds like anything but a fraud with her stunning and fierce guitar playing. Hale proves to be the perfect collaborator, offering her sweetest range in the opening verse before tearing open a mosh pit with her incredible scream-sang range.

The song itself has an unforgettable chorus packed with a punch and anthemic energy, offering up the exact kind of rock and roll force you’d expect from Lloyd and Hale. You can watch the music video for Imposter Syndrome below.

Imposter Syndrome, the album, will be released via Autumn Records on Friday, 10 November. You can pre-order your copy of the album via Sophie Lloyd’s website.

“Working with Lzzy was honestly a dream come true for me,” Lloyd said in a press release via Consequence Of Sound. “I’ve been a fan of hers for years growing up, and when I decided to do a collaborative album, her name was the first one that came to mind. She did such an incredible job at taking such a personal thing and making a song that conveys all the emotion I have felt for years.

Hale added, via Kerrang, “I’ve been garnering inspiration from Sophie Lloyd for years! When Sophie asked me to put lyric and song to her amazing instrumental work, we talked in depth about how this album has been a tool in helping her overcome her feelings of otherness. It was like thumbing through her diary and also like staring at myself in the mirror.

“I hope that this song will give strength to anyone who needs it. It was an honour to draw my weapons and with such a talented and stunning soul!”

In a February Kill Your Stereo interview, Hale discussed the responsibility and honour she feels as someone who’s inspired young girls to pick up a guitar and sing. “It's really beautiful to see all of these young girls that can see themselves reflected in me, and it has inspired them to pick up [the guitar],” she said.

Earlier this year, Trivium bandleader Matt Heafy revealed his collaboration with Sophie Lloyd, featuring on her song Fall Of Man.

Teasing their work on Instagram, Heafy said, “Sophie Lloyd is an immensely talented force of a musician and songwriter. I recall first seeing Sophie’s guitar playing online and being truly blown away – so having been a fan of Sophie’s for several years, I was honored [sic] when asked to guest on an upcoming track.

“When I learned too that Trivium had been a longtime favorite [sic] band of Sophie’s – I was humbled and appreciative. With Sophie now fronting both the solo project and being lead guitarist for MGK – there’s no question Sophie Lloyd is taking over.”
