Groovin The Moo will return to (mostly) regional hubs across the country this April and May, with festival organisers today announcing the dates and venues per city.

The fun begins in Wayville, South Australia, on Thursday, 25 April – with a special acknowledgement of ANZAC Day – before heading to Canberra on Friday, 26 April, through to Bendigo, VIC, to wrap up the festival’s first weekend on Saturday, 27 April.

The following weekend, Groovin The Moo unveils a new location: Foreshore Park in Newcastle, NSW, on Saturday, 4 May, followed by a return to the Sunshine Coast on Sunday, 5 May. The festival then ends in Bunbury, WA, on Saturday, 11 May.

Organisers have noted that the line-up for the 2024 event will drop “very soon”, with heaps more exciting news to come.

While Maitland has long been the home of Groovin The Moo in NSW, the location change was a decision made by consulting punters about their needs. So, the new venue promises more accessibility, parking and accommodation options.

Here’s what a Groovin The Moo spokesperson had to say about the venue update: “We’re really excited to be putting on a festival in Foreshore Park. Whilst Maitland has played a major part in the history of GTM, Newcastle’s transport and accommodation options will provide a better experience for our patrons. Foreshore Park is a stunning location, and we look forward to calling it home.”

Newcastle Lord Mayor Nuatali Nelme added, “[The] City of Newcastle is a strong supporter of live music and is committed to attracting and hosting major events.

“Groovin The Moo will be a valuable addition to this year's events calendar, allowing locals to experience some of the best Australian and international acts at the city's premier events space in Foreshore Park while also delivering an important boost to local businesses and the visitor economy.”
