Veteran hard-rock icons Godsmack have announced that their eagerly awaited sixth studio full-length, 1000hp, is a matter of weeks away, due to be released via Spinefarm/Caroline Australia on Friday, August 29.

The 16-year veterans of the game have lost none of their vitality over the course of their acclaimed career, with their four Grammy nominations, four Platinum awards, 20 million record sales and three consecutive US #1 albums all carrying the renowned four-piece to their present place in 2014, where they sit with the new album’s title track having knocked out the top spot on the US iTunes Rock Chart in quick-smart time.

“I think you can hear a real hunger in the sound,” founder and frontman Sully Erna said in a statement.

“We’re all pretty fired up at the moment, and that extends to taking our music overseas. It’s time to give some real focus to our touring activities outside of North America, and we think this new single will make our intentions clear. It’s one for the fans, and that means our fans everywhere…”

Yes, that more than likely includes Australia. In fact, aside from getting the message out about their imminent new record, it seems Erna is adamant that we’re left not just hoping for, but expecting, some kind of live announcement in the foreseeable future.

“We’ve had some great experiences playing overseas in the past,” he said, “and we can’t wait to return to the roads of Europe and beyond.

“The new single looks back to our earliest days as a band, when we were starting to build a following, so our history is all about growing the Godsmack name through hard work and hard touring.

“We’re ready to show everyone what Godsmack stands for!”
