The 8-bit tunesmith has lined up two shows to celebrate fresh cut 'Reflect', ft. Natalie Foster

More Jamatar More Jamatar

Melburnian indie-electronic musician Jamatar — distinguished by his penchant for crafting his tunes using the retro sounds of Game Boys — released his infectious new single, Reflect, earlier this month, and has announced a pair of shows to celebrate its arrival this June.

The new song features the airy vocals of longtime friend Natalie Foster (who has previously featured on Elk Road's Hanging By A Thread) intertwined with electronic drums and boutinful 8-bit arpeggios, expertly lifted from their humble handheld roots to create a lush and inviting soundscape from start to finish.

Reflect follows last year's excellent predecessor cut, Journeys, which earned Jamatar considerable praise from chiptune aficionados when it made its debut in November. Add to that his growing reputation for visually arresting live performances, and it's easy to see why Jamatar has swiftly hit the heights of having sold out shows in London, inked a UK record deal and appeared on a growing number of festival line-ups around the country.

If you want to catch him in action, you can do just that next month when he heads up to Sydney to play the World Bar on Friday 9 June, or at home in Melbourne on Friday 16 June, with a show at Yah Yah's.
