More Barkaa More Barkaa

In the lead-up to NAIDOC Week – Sunday, 2 July – Sunday, 9 July 2023 – the free music and basketball event, NAIDOC Up Late: Trailblazers, is finally heading for Sydney's newest harbour foreshore, the Barangaroo Reserve. This year's edition is actually its first after two years of Covid-19-related restrictions halted previous attempts at hosting the event.

Held at the venue The Cutaway, NAIDOC Up Late: Trailblazers is scheduled for Saturday, 1 July, from 1 pm until 10: pm.

This year’s event will be headlined by none other than the legendary Barkaa. She will be joined by Gumbaynggirr rapper Tasman Keith, Yuin rapper Nooky, critically acclaimed Nigerian-Australian MC B. Wise, empowering rapper Mau Power, 22-year-old Maori R&B singer-rapper A. Girl, Wiradjuri MC and producer Wizz, DJ Nino Brown, Sydney-based hip hop performer and music producer known as "The Grandfather of Indigenous Hip-Hop" Munkimuk, and Australia’s first ever Indigenous R&B acapella group hailing from Brisbane in the 90s, Aim 4 More.

NAIDOC Up Late: Trailblazers will honour the inspirations and advocates that have inspired a new generation of leaders and artists.

Indigenous storytellers and performers Luke Currie-Richardson and Ghenoa Gela, will host the event. If you’re interested in attending, free limited tickets are available now via the Barangaroo website. You can find the full timetable below.

Live music begins at 5:30 pm, and food trucks will be open from 1:00 pm – you can grab some delicious street food and make a day with friends and family.
