Cincinnati-bred experimental rockers Foxy Shazam have announced that they will be going on an indefinite hiatus.

The news has not yet seemed to impact their scheduled tour plans for the remainder of the year — they have several shows booked all the way up to their final appearance of 2014 in their home town on December 31 — so, best-case scenario, they'll remain active until year's end (albeit nowhere that you'll be able to see them), but — worst-case — this could also be it.

"After more than ten years of our lives completely revolving around Foxy Shazam, it is time to disband for an unknown amount of time," the band wrote in a statement posted to Facebook. "Performing more than two thousand shows together around the world has been life changing, but also has kept us from spending time with our families and pursuing our own passions and ways to grow individually as artists.

"It has been an honor sharing ourselves and our music with all of you. Thank you to all of our fans, family, and friends that have supported us through everything to make this previous decade the best times of our lives."

The band concluded their 'bye for now' post with an encouraging addendum, wrapping up by saying, "We truly believe there is a future for Foxy Shazam, that our best art is yet to come. We don't know how long this will take but we plan on someday returning more powerful than ever."

Foxy Shazam performed at the 2011 Soundwave Festival, and released fifth studio full-length Gonzo in April this year.
