More Foo Fighters More Foo Fighters

It’s official: Foo Fighters are back. After teasing a riff-laden snippet of new music last week - we now know it's Rescued, the first single from their new album, But Here We Are.

Rescued is their first new song since the devastating passing of drummer Taylor Hawkins in March 2022.

Rescued is classic Foo Fighters - open, addictive power chords, resonant, shout-along vocals from Dave Grohl - it’s rock music to soothe the soul. Check out the lyric video below.

But Here We Are will be released on Friday, 2 June. The Foo Fighters and Greg Kurstin-produced album is available to pre-order here.

The band said that But Here We Are is a “brutally honest and emotionally raw response to everything Foo Fighters endured over the last year” in a press release shared by Pitchfork.

As their headlining appearances at the music festivals Boston Calling, Sonic Temple and Bonnaroo rapidly approach, Foo Fighters are gearing up - will they premiere more new music on stage?

On New Year’s Eve, Foo Fighters paid tribute to Taylor Hawkins and announced they would continue as a band. Speculation about who would sit in the drummer’s seat has followed them ever since, with Pearl Jam’s Matt Cameron denying rumours that he’s joining the band. At the time of writing, Foo Fighters haven’t revealed who their new drummer is.

The tribute read, "Foo Fighters were formed 27 years ago to represent the healing power of music and a continuation of life. And for the past 27 years, our fans have built a worldwide community, a devoted support system that has helped us all get through the darkest of times together. A place to share our joy and our pain, our hopes and our fears, and to join in a chorus of life together through music. Without Taylor, we never would have become the band that we were -- and without Taylor, we know that we're going to be a different band going forward."

"We also know that you, the fans meant as much to Taylor as he meant to you. And we know that when we see you all again- and we will soon - he'll be there in spirit with all of us every night."
