Fall Out Boy Announce New Album; Release Rocking New Single

Fall Out Boy have returned following some solid teasing with the release date of their eighth album, So Much (For) Stardust (24 March), the arrival of a new single, Love From The Other Side and the announcement that they have re-signed with Fueled By Ramen/Elektra.

It's a lot to take in, isn't it? Well, there's more: So Much (For) Stardust was produced by none other than Neal Avron, who the band worked with on the beloved holy trinity of 2000s-emo: From Under the Cork Tree, Infinity on High, and Folie à Deux.

The new single finds Fall Out Boy fully embracing rock music again. There are energetic guitars, drums, and bass, as well as fully-charged vocals from Patrick Stump. The good news is that it doesn't feel watered-down or phoned in; it's a genuinely exciting rock song from the American band in 2023.

Their reunion with Fueled By Ramen/Elektra arrives 20 years after the band were connected with the label and released their 2003 debut album, Take This To Your Grave.

"Technology has made it really easy to make records much more quickly these days. There’s nothing wrong with that, and that spontaneity can be exciting," Stump revealed in a statement. "But we wanted to get back to the way we used to work. We wanted to make a record that was really lovingly crafted and deliberate and patiently guided – like someone cooked you a delicate meal. I’m not a very proud guy, but I’m pretty proud of this record."

About working with Avron again, he added, "Neal not only taught us how to make records, but has a unique capacity to really take time and focus on a record. We thought it was a no-brainer to work with him again, on a record where that was very important to us, and he was gracious enough to agree to work with us."

Bassist Pete Wentz commented, "Our band has been an ongoing art project for twenty years and we know there have been many inception points along that journey. We wanted to create an album that merged those points together – something new, but carved from our foundation. Fueled By Ramen and Elektra seemed like the perfect home for this."

Johnny Minardi, VP of A&R for Fueled By Ramen/Elektra shared his excitement about welcoming Fall Out Boy back to the label by saying, "Growing up in Chicago, I had the privilege of watching Fall Out Boy play DIY venues around the city, eventually growing into the global superstars we know them as today. They are a truly special band that has altered the landscape of rock music and who continually evolve with each new release. They have made an incredible album and we can’t wait for the world to hear it."

Fall Out Boy recently began signalling their return by taking out a full-page advertisement in The Chicago Tribune newspaper, with "FOB8" - teasing their eighth album - and the phrase "if you build it, they will come" printed.
