Death Metal Drummer Stabbed 27 Times

Three men in their 20s have been arrested in the Dominican Republic capital Santo Domingo, accused of the brutal murder of José Carlos Hernández, drummer for heavy metal band Exsanguination Throne.

Hernández, who performed under the name Asmodeo Nefastdrum Shiva, was outside the Gustavo Live Pub, when he was approached by the three men who allegedly stabbed him 27 times using a ten-inch knife, reports Dominican Republic media outlet Listín Diario.

One of the suspects has reportedly told police that they mistook Hernández for someone who had raped a friend of there's a number of weeks prior.

The death metal band formed in 2004 and released their debut album At The Inside Of The Darkness last year. Hernández' father Jochy was a popular merengue in the 1980s and '90s, but died of a brain tumor in 1994.
