Label signs Canadian band for Australia

Michael Chugg's record label Chugg Music has signed its first international band in the form of Canadian five-piece Down With Webster, theMusic.com.au can reveal.

The hip-hop, rock, electro cross-over mash have already had a number one album in their home country and will be introduced to Australian audiences with the track One In A Million this week. They will tour Australia in the second half of the year. Chugg Music have signed a full licensing deal with the band for this territory.

Today Chugg described them as one Canada's “newest number one acts” and said, “It's great to offer our recourses and passion to successful artists looking for a home over here too.”

Chugg Music – which has a distribution deal with MGM both in Australia and America – has had a number of success in the past 18 months, the most notable being Sheppard's surprise run at the top of the ARIA Singles Chart with Geronimo – believed to be the highest selling local single of the year so far.
