The pop-up gig is the first in a series to be held over the next few months.

Hobard-based cinematic/psych desert-rockers EWAH & The Vision Of Paradise are one of this year's esteemed acts longlisted for the 13th annual Australian Music Prize (AMP), and they have the distinction of being the first act to headline the inaugural series of Longlist Live pop-up gigs, presented by Mountain Goat.

The show will be held at Melbourne's Commercial Club Hotel on Wednesday 11 October, and is free-entry to the public but with limited capacity, so if you can get there early, that'd be a good plan.

The band have been longlisted for their February album Everything Fades To Blue, which has not only turned the AMP judges' heads but received attention at home (earning regular play on Double J) and abroad from the likes of Jarvis Cocker (BBC Radio 6) and Henry Rollins (KCRW radio).

"I’m really proud of the band and album, so it’s exciting to be invited to Melbourne for this special show," EWAH said in a statement. "Many of the songs were written in Melbourne and the concept for this project began there.

"We are a bit bowled over that we’ve made the Longlist of the AMP, it’s pretty lovely to have this recognition. I hope that care is reflected in the album and that it has longevity for listeners."

The AMP is judged by a group of musicians/producers, retailers and media, with all albums released between 1 January and 31 December this year — at a minimum of nine tracks or 33 minutes total length — eligible to be considered for the prize.

Worth $30,000, in partnership with PPCA, the AMP has previously been awarded to A-list artists such as A.B. Original (2016), Courtney Barnett (2015), REMI (2014), Big Scary (2013) and more.

If you'd like to submit your album, or for more information about this year's prize, see the AMP's website.
