But don't expect the cash before Xmas

Triple j's Hack program has reported that Soundwave ticketing agency Eventopia will be issuing refunds to those who bought tickets to the cancelled event.

Since the touring festival was officially struck down last week there has been much debate about refunds for fans. Representatives of the touring company and the agent have been alleging each other are responsible for the refunds. As recently as yesterday the two were sniping at each other over the whereabouts of the ticket money.

Last week many Soundwave fans were resorting to bank 'chargebacks' to get their money returned.

Late yesterday it was reported that Eventopia had contacted ticketholders requesting that they can now "apply" for refunds. The agency said that refunds should be processed within 21 working days.

While not admitting responsibility, the agency stated: "To ensure fans are not disadvantaged Eventopia has sent an email this afternoon to all customers inviting them to apply for a full refund of their Soundwave 2016 ticket prior to January 31 2016."

The statement also took aim at Soundwave promoter AJ Maddah: "We are shocked by what we consider to be financial mismanagement on the part of the Promoter which has led to this outcome.

"Eventopia is actively pursuing every possible legal avenue against Hounds of Hell Pty Limited and its director, AJ Maddah to recover the ticket sales monies that were advanced to Hounds of Hell Pty Ltd."
