British rock music chameleons Enter Shikari have announced that their seventh album, A Kiss For The Whole World, is on the way, but fans will have to wait until 21 April to hear it. The wait isn't so bad, though, as the band have also unveiled the record's first single, (pls) set me on fire, along with the album announcement.

Limited copies of the new album can be bundled with the Live From Alexandra Palace 3 album & DVD, recorded live in December 2021 at the band’s sold-out 10,000-capacity London show.

It's now been three years since Enter Shikari released their most recent album, Nothing Is True & Everything Is Possible, where the band last asked fans, “Is this a new beginning? / Or are we close to the end?”

Vocalist Rou Reynolds has commented on the new single, "Honestly, I thought I was fucked. I’ve never felt so detached from my soul, my purpose, my fucking spirit. I didn’t write music for almost two years. The longest I’d gone before that was two weeks. I was broken.

"It’s almost as if my brain had asked: 'What is the point in music if it cannot be shared? What is the point in writing music if it’s not to be experienced with others?' and then promptly switched itself off. (pls) set me on fire grew out of that desperation. This song is a projectile vomit of positive energy. Every emotion trapped inside me for two years, finally set free."

The album, meanwhile, was recorded in a farmhouse that only used solar power in a move that Reynolds calls "back to basics."

The singer added, "This band - my best friends - bundled into an old farmhouse, miles away from anywhere. Off-grid, and ready to rediscover ourselves. This album is powered by the sun, the most powerful object in our solar system. And I think you can tell. It’s a collection of songs that represent an explosive reconnection with what Enter Shikari is. The beginning of our second act."

Enter Shikari returned to Australia in November last year, and as Kayla Hamilton at Amnplify wrote, it wasn't a show to miss. "It is hard to describe an Enter Shikari to those who have never been, but all you can say is that it is high energy. Circle pits, dance circles, crowd-surfing, jumping and screaming along - it was a beautiful chaos that you cannot help being swept up in. There was just so much love, passion and freedom in that room - a release you could tell many people had been waiting to experience for a long-time."
