Ed Kuepper, of The Saints fame, will have his extensive catalogue reissued on vinyl and added to streaming services for the first time, thanks to a partnership with Remote Control Records.

His long-out-of-print, seminal debut solo album Electrical Storm (1985) and Honey Steel's Gold (1990) are finally receiving a vinyl reissue, with a release date of Friday, 9 June. It’s the first time both albums will be available on vinyl in 30 years.

Electrical Storm is also available on streaming services for the very first time today, while Honey Steel’s Gold will be added on 9 June.

Ed Kuepper is one of Australia's most culturally significant and influential musicians. He’s been inducted into the ARIA Hall Of Fame, won two ARIA Awards and earned several other nominations to his name.

Since 1985, Kuepper has released over 20 studio albums under his own name, winning countless awards along the way. It’s an unequalled catalogue of work - idiosyncratic, forward-moving, always searching - that has been acquired by Remote Control.

Steve Cross, co-founder of Remote Control, said in a press release, “For me Ed is a prime mover, a musician who has transformed music numerous times over, always swimming upstream, always seeking new terrain, always creating on his own terms.

“It’s a vast, singular body of work, no one else could have produced it. I get the same pleasure listening to these albums as I do listening to Neil Young or John Martyn or Patti Smith or Michael Rother. And it’s a pleasure to share Ed’s music and make these records available again.”

Kuepper added, "It's very satisfying to be involved in the long overdue reissue of these, to me, pivotal albums. And best of all there will be more... ''

Kuepper made his Sydney Opera House debut as a solo artist in 2021 while on tour with fellow music heavyweight and Dirty Three drummer, Jim White.

Sydney Opera House's Head of Contemporary Music Ben Marshall said about the two shows, "Ed Kuepper stands tall as a figure alongside Nick Cave and David McComb and last took to the Opera House stage as a member of the Bad Seeds in 2013.

“I’ve been waiting for the right moment to honour his continued creative restlessness but never dreamed it’d be as part of an inspired pairing with the inimitable Jim White, co–creator of some of the most memorable concerts ever staged here.”
