Brisbane dance-punk rockers DZ Deathrays are celebrating the tenth anniversary of their second album, Black Rat, by embarking on a June/July Australian tour and releasing an exclusive anniversary white vinyl repress.

DZ Deathrays will perform the album in its entirety, while the exclusive anniversary white vinyl repress is limited to just 300 copies worldwide. The record is available to pre-order now ahead of its Friday, 3 May, release date via I OH YOU.

The album was released in May 2014 via I OH YOU in Australia and Dine Alone Records in Canada. On the month of its release, Black Rat landed at #23 on the ARIA Albums Chart. At the 2014 ARIA Awards, DZ Deathrays won the award for Best Hard Rock/Heavy Metal Album.

The Black Rat 10th anniversary tour begins on Friday, 14 June, at Sydney’s Manning Bar before heading to Brisbane’s The Triffid (Saturday, 22 June), Melbourne’s Corner Hotel (Friday, 28 June), Perth’s Rosemount Hotel (Friday, 5 July), Hobart’s Altar (Friday, 12 July), and ends at Adelaide’s The Gov on Saturday, 13 July.

Tickets are on sale now – you can buy them here. You can also pre-order the 10th Anniversary Limited Edition of Black Rat on white vinyl here.

In an album review of Black Rat for The Music, writer Tom Hersey praised the band for “subtly transforming away from their indie punk party thrash origins”.

Hersey continued, “If DZ Deathrays' existence thus far has been a party, Black Rat is the sound of the duo starting to turn down the stereo at the end of the night to let people know it's time to leave. It's going to be exciting to see what they do for the after-party.”

Last June, DZ Deathrays released their latest album, R.I.F.F (“Remember, It’s For Fun”), via their new record label, DZ Worldwide.

Creating R.I.F.F was quite the experience for DZ Deathray. The band said the album “ended up as one of our most raucous and fun records yet revisiting some of the flavours of Blood Lovely whilst adding a new style of production for us.”
