Next year’s Byron Bay Bluesfest has grown by an impressive 15 acts – making for a total of 38 so far – with today's update to the lineup featuring Dan Sultan, Tim Finn, Ian Moss and more.

The second artist announcement is led by Tedeschi Trucks Band, who return to Bluesfest for their fourth edition in 2024 (having played the festival previously in 2011, 2013 and 2016). According to director Peter Noble, they were “the most requested band by Bluesfest 2023 attendees”.

Also returning to Bluesfest will be Taj Mahal – his set being an Australian exclusive – marking his tenth time performing at the festival. Other returning favourites of Bluesfest attendees include The Cruel Sea (who reunited earlier this year), Rickie Lee Jones, COTERIE, Playing For Change and Caravãna Sun.

Meanwhile, Jackie Venson – also performing exclusively at Bluesfest – appears on the festival’s lineup for the first time ever, alongside Lisa Hunt’s Forever Soul, WILSN and the Women Of Soul Collective. The Whitlams are an interesting outlier: they performed at Bluesfest in 2005, but at next year’s edition, they’ll be performing with their rootsy offshoot The Whitlams Black Stump Band.

In a press statement, Noble said of the 15 new acts joining Bluesfest 2024: “I am so proud to bring this incredible gathering of the world’s best artists to Bluesfest Byron Bay. Our lineup is shaping up to be one of our best. And we’re just getting started!

“Bluesfest 2024 is set to be an extraordinary celebration of music, bringing together a diverse array of artists and genres to create a unique and unforgettable experience for fans of all ages. From Blues purists to music enthusiasts, there’s something for everyone in our second artist announcement.”
