26-year-old North Carolina-based rapper Cordae has been added to the 2024 Laneway Festival line-up, replacing singer-songwriter, actress and model Suki Waterhouse, who will no longer perform at the festival due to personal reasons.

“We were so looking forward to having Suki Waterhouse along to Laneway Festival next year, but due to personal reasons, she can't make the trip to Australia and New Zealand in February,” Laneway organisers wrote in a statement today. “We can't wait to welcome Suki back to Laneway in the future when the timing is right. Until then, we wish her all the best and will keep her on repeat.”

Last year, Cordae released his second album, From A Bird’s Eye View, following his 2019 full-length debut, The Lost Boy. His latest LP stars special guests Freddie Gibbs and Lil Wayne and arrived before Cordae won his first Emmy Award for his musical work on the Netflix series We The People, co-produced by Barack and Michelle Obama.

Cordae has since released a string of singles, toured alongside NF in the US, and amassed over one billion streams. His Laneway Festival appearances mark his first stops in Australia in four years.

In 2022, Suki Waterhouse released her debut album, I Can’t Let Go, and the EP Milk Teeth via Sub Pop Records after her 2017 single Good Looking went viral on TikTok last year.

Laneway Festival 2024 will be headlined by Stormzy, Steve Lacy and Dominic Fike. The festival also boasts RAYE, British rapper AJ Tracey, Atlanta-based singer-songwriter Faye Webster, English DJ Nia Archives, New Zealand rock band Unknown Mortal Orchestra, and many more.
