Coopers AMP Founder Launches American Music Prize

Scott Murphy takes the AMP to the States

Founder and director of the Coopers AMP, Scott Murphy has launched a similar album prize in America.

As reported by the New York Times, the American Music Prize is now open for registrations to find the Best Debut Album of the next 12 months. To be eligible, an album needs to have been released between 1 Aug 2014 — 31 July 2015 and recorded by an American artist or group that has at least 51% American residents within its members.

The prize is said to be worth $75,000. The Coopers AMP, which recently finalised its latest long-list, is worth $30,000.
