Morgan Wallen Second Country Artist Ever To Claim Massive Aus Feat

For only the second time in 2023, an artist holds the top of both charts, as Morgan Wallen rides atop both the singles and album listings for this week.

Last Night for Morgan Wallen is logging its third consecutive week at #1 on the ARIA Singles Chart, while the track is also down a spot to #2 in The U.S.A., and at #3 in both New Zealand (LW-2) and Canada (on hold), while hitting new peaks in Ireland (#7) and England (#28).

His album One Thing At A Time reclaims the Albums Chart top spot this week for a second stay and logs a seventh straight week at the LP summit in The U.S.A., making Morgan Wallen only the second act of 2023 and the second-ever Country Artist to hold the top of both charts simultaneously.

Miley Cyrus was at the top of both charts this year on March 20th for one week, while her father Billy Ray Cyrus was the first country act to hold the top of both charts, back on October 11th and 18th in 1992 his single Achy Breaky Heart and its parent album Some Gave All held both top spots, while Morgan is the first Solo Male Act to achieve this feat since Harry Styles (May 30th, 2022) and the 142nd act to pull-off this rare chart feat overall (since 1965).

Miley's track Flowers remains at #2 for a third week, while stretching out its #1 status in Canada for a 14th week at the top there, followed by the other two stable tracks within the Top 10 this week, Kill Bill for SZA (and now featuring Doja Cat) at #3 (newly 3x▲Platinum in sales) which re-took the top spot in NZ last week (TW-2) and she has their #1 LP this week, plus the song also claims its first ever week at #1 in The U.S.A. this week thanks to its Doja Cat remix, while with Taylor and Harry both departing the Top 10 this week, this track is now the longest-running Top 10 entry at 19 weeks. PinkPantheress and Ice Spice are the fourth non-movers as they remain at #4 for another week with Boy's a Liar (pt.2).

New Zealand's new #1 single this week is sitting here at a new peak of #5, last week's highest new entry for David Kushner and Daylight, which also sits at #2 in England and Ireland, #5 in Germany and debuts in both Canada (#6) and The U.S.A. (#48). This is followed by the only other new peak within the Top 10 this week as Korean act FIFTY FIFTY jump up three places to a #6 with Cupid, while the track remains at its #7 peak in New Zealand and rises to new chart heights in England (26 to #18), Ireland (32 to #27), The U.S.A. (60 to #50) and Canada (21 to #20).

During the first eight weeks that The Weeknd and Ariana Grande's version of Die For You has been within the Top 10, it only ever charted at either #3 or #5, well now this week the duet falls two places to a first-time-ever position of #7, while The Weeknd makes up for this slip by debuting at #9 with the track Double Fantasy alongside rapper Future, which is taken from the soundtrack to the June 4th due TV Series The Idol, which stars Abel 'The Weeknd' Tesfaye alongside Lily-Rose Depp, with Abel playing a self-help guru who has a complex relationship with Lily's character, an aspiring pop-star, with this new entry within the ten becoming his 17th Top 10 placement in Australia (13 as lead, 4 as guest).

Either side of the highest new entry for the week is Luke Combs' rendition of Fast Car, dipping one spot to park at #8, which is the same position his album Gettin' Old falls to this week too, while a return to the Top 10 at #10 for RAYE and 070 Shake with Escapism sees the song rise back up two places for a sixteenth week within the Top 10 after leaving for the first time last week.

TOP 20

The two Top 10 dropouts this week are Anti-Hero (HP-1x8, WI10-23) for Taylor Swift, down three to #11 and As It Was (HP-1x8, WI10-44) by Harry Styles, dipping two to #12, the 16th and 4th longest-running Top 10 entries of all time in Australia, respectively. Stephen Sanchez issued a new track on Friday (April 28th) called Only Girl, while his current entry Until I Found You, is down two places to #13, while another act with a new track out is Coi Leray who issued My Body, (which again features a classic sample, kinda!!) while her former #7 track Players is back up to #15 this week.

Making its first Top 20 appearance is the returning English (3rd week) and current Irish (5th week) #1 single Miracle for Calvin Harris and Ellie Goulding, which locally jumps up six places to land a new peak of #18, while it leaps to a new height in Canada too (94 to #73). Dropping six places apiece are Post Malone with his new entry from last week Chemical to #20, taken from the #16 debuting Album for him called The Diamond Collection, while Ed Sheeran is down to #19 with Eyes Closed, with his newly issued track Boat entering at #99 this week.

TOP 30

Nine of the Top 50 songs are on hold this week, with four within the Top 10, the other five are all within this chart region, as Sure Thing by Miguel (#21), Something In The Orange by Zach Bryan (#22), Green Green Grass for George Ezra (#25), Unholy by Sam Smith and Kim Petras (#26) and I'm Good (Blue) by David Guetta and Bebe Rexha (#29) all hold this week.

Tiësto sees his new album DRIVE come in at #26 this week over on the ARIA Albums Chart, which has helped his latest entry with Tate McRae and 10:35 to jump back up four places to #23, while a new peak at #28 occurs for Never Felt So Alone for Labrinth and Billie Eilish, with a seven place drop to #27 for Drake's Search & Rescue.

TOP 40

After jumping back up last week to #17, this week Glass Animals drops back down fourteen places to #31 with their long-running (141 weeks, 2 years 9 months) track Heat Waves. Lewis Capaldi has two Top 40 entries this week, with his first single Someone You Loved falling back down six to #38, while his newest single Wish You The Best jumps up twenty-four spots to land at a new peak of #34 after debuting at #58 last week and also debuting at the top in England last week (UK.TW-3), while the song climbs to a new peak of #4 in Ireland and it jumps in New Zealand (34 to #25) and debuts in Canada (#55). Lewis also drops down with Forget Me (54 to #79) and cracks two-accumulated-chart-years (104 weeks) for his second entry Before You Go, which drops to #100 this week.

TOP 50

Libianca hits a new peak in Australia this week with her first entry People, up five spots to #41, with the song firmly within the Top 5 in England (#4), Ireland and New Zealand (both #5). Dreams for Fleetwood Mac drops back down six places to #46, followed by a four-place slip to #47 for Ed's Bad Habits and Taylor Swift's Lavender Haze celebrates half a year (26 weeks) with the Top 100 by dipping four to #49. Last week a 2017 track from Tyler, the Creator's album Flowerboy debuted for the first time within the Top 100 at #99, and now this week See You Again featuring Kali Uchis leaps up fifty-one spots to land at #48 this week, while the song was initially certified Gold in February of 2019, it is this week now 3x▲Platinum in sales.
