“I’m living my best life."

More Charli XCX More Charli XCX

It's fair to say the response to Charli XCX's new single Baby this week from fans was mixed, but she has strongly taken to Twitter to refute criticism of her artistic choices.

The single is a disco tune complete with a killer video showing off her boss style and a seemingly made-for-TikTok dance that she says makes her "feel sexy and hot". The clip channels Beyonce's Single Ladies simple dance style, albeit one slightly less likely to be played at primary school dances with its "I'm gonna fuck you up" hook.

Taking a swipe at ageist criticism from Twitter users of the song being a 'midlife crisis', Charli hit back:

“If u wanna throw around midlife crisis fucking throw it at me - I’m getting older, I’m getting hotter, my tits are stunning, I’m in great shape, I’m dancing, I’m progressing and I’m living my best life - and that the tea ☕️"
