Seven years and countless gigs later, the reliable Queenslanders are pulling up stumps 'indefinitely'

Stalwart Queensland indie outfit The Cairos have revealed that their next three shows — one each in Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane — will be their last, announcing their intention to "part ways indefinitely" today.

"A short time ago, we got together and came to the realisation that we're all ready for the next part of our lives," band members Alistar Richardson, Alfio Alivuzza and Jacob Trotter wrote in a joint statement, posted to Facebook today. "After spending the best part of seven years in planes, vans, rehearsal rooms, sleeping on couches, it's time for new creative challenges, projects and adventures.

"The shows in two weeks will be our last as The Cairos. To everyone who has coem to a show, supported us or bought our music, we want to say thank you so much. Also, a big thanks to our families, friends, management, booking agency and everyone else who has been there behind the scenes.

"We've achieved more than we could have imagined and we're extremely grateful to those who have been a part of the journey. We couldn't have come this far without you."

The three-piece have been a consistent part — in one form or another — of both the Brisbane and national music community over the past seven years, putting out two EPs (2009's Lost At Sea and 2012's Colours Like Features) and a studio full-length (2014's Dream Of Reason). Their most recent single, Love Don't Feel Right, dropped last year, having now garnered more than 100,000 plays on Spotify.

The band's final three shows will go down on Thursday 21 January at Shebeen, Melbourne; Friday 22 January at Brighton Up Bar, Sydney;  and Saturday 23 January at The Foundry, at home in Brisbane for the big farewell.

Tickets are available through the respective venues. See theGuide or check The Music App for more information.
