"Oh, I’m not kidding."

More Green Day More Green Day

As the world still tries to come to terms with the overturning Roe v. Wade, artists continue to lash out at the US Supreme Court, Green Day frontman Billie Joe Armstrong among them.

The court’s unprecedented move over the weekend will allow more than half of the US to ban abortion, which has been met with extreme backlash across the globe.

Following Taylor Swift, Harry Styles, Jack White and more speaking out, Armstrong has said that he’ll be “renouncing” his US citizenship over the ruling.

During Green Day’s London show as part of the Hella Mega Tour with Fall Out Boy and Weezer, Armstrong firmly stated “fuck America”.

“I’m fucking renouncing my citizenship. I’m fucking coming here,” he said.

“There’s just too much fucking stupid in the world to go back to that miserable fucking excuse for a country. Oh, I’m not kidding. You’re going to get a lot of me in the coming days.”

Following the devastating school shooting in Uvalde, Texas last month, the American Idiot hitmakers displayed a massive “Fuck Ted Cruz” graphic behind them during a show in Berlin, and they were very vocal throughout Trump’s time in office.

Phoebe Bridgers, who has been widely outspoken about the battle over abortion rights in the US since news of Roe v. Wade’s impending overturn by the Supreme Court was first leaked earlier this year, used her recent set at Glastonbury to voice her opinions on the ruling.

“In all honesty, [Glastonbury] is like super surreal and fun, but I’m having like the shittiest day,” she told the crowd.

“Are there any Americans here? Who wants to say ‘Fuck the Supreme Court’ on three?”

“Fuck that shit. Fuck America. Like, fuck you. All these irrelevant old motherfuckers trying to tell us what to do with our fucking bodies.”
