BIGSOUND buzz act Gordon Koang has added a new Sydney show to his tour.

Due to the "overwhelming response" to his latest single, Asylum Seeker, will now play at Sydney's Lansdowne Hotel on Wednesday 16 October.

The Melbourne-based artist blew away crowds at this year's BIGSOUND in Brisbane and went on to pick up the Levi's Music Prize. The prize is valued at $30,000, with $25,000 in cash and $5,000 to assist with touring from Stage & Screen.

"I am standing before you as a blind person. I cannot see anything in this world but I put my mind to do music," said Koang when accepting the award.

"I have been playing my instrument for 31 years and came to Australia in 2014 to seek asylum because Sudan has a war. God has blessed us by bringing our permanent residency and now we are here accepting this award at the BIGSOUND festival.
