More Between You & Me More Between You & Me

Today, Aussie pop-rock band Between You And Me return with Nevermind, their first release since departing from Hopeless Records and going independent last year.

The bouncy number will surely get in listeners’ heads with callbacks to bands like Something Corporate and Mayday Parade - bands from an idyllic time in music, am I right?

The playful, energetic and addictive new single arrives just in time for Between You And Me’s upcoming US run opening for Knuckle Puck next month, before returning home to support Slowly Slowly this May.

“We knew that the next song we released after Armageddon was going to be tough because we put all that we had into the album and are very proud of what we were able to create together,” singer Jake Wilson said in a press release.

“Since our band is now independent, there felt like a lot of added pressure to prove a lot of people wrong and remind everyone that we’re still here and we aren’t dropping off anytime soon.”

Wilson added, “As we’re growing in our career and as individuals, we’ve enjoyed playing with different genres and finding our niche. Nevermind is the next chapter for BYAM that perfectly captures the spirit of our band and our live show.”

Earlier this month, Between You And Me explained that they left Hopeless Records due to what they felt was inadequate support of their most recent album, Armageddon, released in November 2021.

A statement the band released on 8 March reads:

“To all of the BYAM family,

“We wanted to share with you some important information. As you may be aware, in 2022, we left our record label, Hopeless Records.

“During the release of our sophomore album ‘Armageddon’, we felt that our label did not adequately support the record and uphold their obligations. We spoke about this publicly. To invest so much in a record, only for it to be shelved by your label, was disheartening.

“Music is a gift, and its beauty should never be decided by the profit on a balance sheet.

“Between You And Me will be an independent band going forward. This is a scary step for us, but one we are extremely excited by. For the first time since we started as a band, we have full control over the release of our music. Finally, our fans will be able to directly support us and keep this dream alive.”

Featuring triple j-backed singles Deadbeat, Butterflies, Change and Go To Hell ft. Mikaila Delgado of Yours Truly, Armageddon offered up a heart-on-sleeve account of what it is to be human, delving into themes of love and friendship through to the political and environmental state of the world.

The electrifying ten-track record landed as triple j’s Spotlight Album alongside an interview on the station’s Breakfast program and has since clocked up over 10.5 million global streams in addition to support from BBC Radio 1, Spotify, and more.

To support the band’s independent path, listen to Nevermind HERE, share the music video once it airs tomorrow morning, and tell your friends that Between You And Me aren’t dropping off anytime soon.
