'Raw & Aggressive': Sydney Band Mazy Take Us Behind The Scenes Of Their New Music Video

Sydney trio Mazy tell a compelling story in only four minutes with their new music video, You Got Me.

The stunning clip was directed by W.A.M. Bleakley and stars Australian actor Toby Wallace, who recently won an AACTA for Best Lead Actor in 2019’s Babyteeth, stars as Campbell Netflix's The Society and will feature in the upcoming Sex Pistols series Pistol.

THE DIRECTOR

“We wanted the clip to feel raw and capture an aggressive friendship group which isn’t good for anyone,” W.A.M. Bleakley told The Music.

“I think we achieved this through some great performances from Toby Wallace and the others. We cast Toby initially and he was the only actor in the clip, we surrounded him with non-actors to make it seem more real. 

“Producers Lucy Knox and Kesha Robertson pulled off the impossible to bring this big idea to reality on a tight budget with only a week of pre-production. 

“Simon Walsh’s camera work added beauty to the barren industrial landscapes – we shot on Kodak 16mm film to give the film a grittiness you can’t get with digital. 

“You Got Me is a wicked track with a lot of build and energy – it’s a dream song for a music video director and was lots of fun to edit the clip to.”
