Pennsylvania emo kings, Balance And Composure, have reunited after a hiatus that began in 2019 and released their first new music since the 2017 Slowheart EP.

Known for their abrasive yet vulnerable brand of rock music, Balance And Composure stood at the forefront of fourth-wave emo alongside bands like Tigers Jaw, Citizen and Modern Baseball

Balance And Composure have signed to producer Will Yip’s record label, Memory Music, and put out a two-song release, Too Quick To Forgive. Savior Mode and Last To Know are classic Balance And Composure songs, and with Yip back on board, the expansive production hurtles us back to 2013, blasting The Things We Think We’re Missing.

The press release about Too Quick To Forgive reads, “After five long years, Balance and Composure return with Too Quick To Forgive--newly signed to Grammy-nominated producer Will Yip's label, Memory Music, the alt-rock darlings sound more assured and adventurous than ever across two vulnerable tracks.

Too Quick To Forgive is a reflection on personal perseverance in the wake of confrontation, told through two distinctly different scenarios. Savior Mode finds frontman Jon Simmons baring his soul in a way that is unparalleled in their discography, while Last To Know is an emotionally-resonant highlight that leaves a lasting impact well after its final notes play out."

The announcement also reveals that ex-drummer Bailey Van Ellis is not part of the reunion. “Simmons' vulnerability and emotional delivery across both tracks cut through with unflinching precision courtesy of Andy Slaymaker (guitar), Matt Warner (bass), Erik Petersen (guitar), Dennis Wilson (drums), and who the band considers their 6th member--producer Will Yip.

“In the fall of 2022, the group got together at his Conshohocken, PA studio, Studio 4, with a few ideas that Yip helped turn into these otherworldly tracks. ‘It was all magic,’ Jon says.”

Balance And Composure last toured Australia in March 2017. We’re hoping for a The Things We Think We’re Missing 10th-anniversary run that makes some stops here.
