Our Last Enemy have been forced to suddenly pull out opening for Avatar in Sydney after their guitarist broke his arm.
Yesterday, Swedish heavy metal outfit Avatar issued a call out for your help: they needed a local support band to open for them in Sydney tomorrow night (26 August).
According to a press release, Sydney industrial metal act Our Last Enemy have been forced to suddenly pull out of the gig at The Metro after their guitarist broke his arm and is unable to perform.
After putting out the call, Avatar were inundated with an abundance of requests, and one band stood out above the rest: Western Sydney’s Pyrefly.
Utopia Records, Sydney’s premier metal music store, has been a demonstration of what promoters have called an “overwhelming” level of support from the city’s music community. The store shared a massive call-out post on social media yesterday afternoon to help find the band to fill Our Last Enemy’s shoes.
“The level of support demonstrated from the Sydney metal community over the last 24 hours has been overwhelming,” tour promoters said in a statement.

Pyrefly added, “We are so grateful for a chance to be a part of this amazing show. As long-time fans of Avatar and proud members of the Sydney music scene, we want to thank everyone for helping us play next to these heavy metal legends.”
Pyrefly will hit the Metro stage at 8 pm – last minute tickets are available via The Phoenix.
Avatar ended up finding Pyrefly after issuing the following call-out to the Sydney metal music community yesterday afternoon:
