Aussie punks Bloods have served up a stiff double shot of good news, releasing a new single and delivering the wild news that their song I Like You is now playable on the video game Rock Band.

First up, the Sydney punk trio have debuted the brand new single Devo, via Flood Magazine. Lifted from their forthcoming full-length Together, Baby!, Devo is a fearless and pointed slice of pop-infused punk inspired by the 'me too' movement.

Speaking to Flood magazine frontwoman and main songwriter for Bloods, MC states

"When I wrote this song, there was a lot happening as a direct result of the ‘me too’ and ‘beneath the glass ceiling’ movements. It felt like an important moment in time, and I felt really inspired by people finally being held accountable. Along with the changes happening, were the many excuses that spewed from the mouths of complicit parties. It felt like, at the time, there were a lot of people looking over their shoulders, in fear of being called out.

The whole song is meant to be an empowered taunt to those who held power for so long, sung by those who they exerted that power over – until now. The first lyric I was clear on was the chorus “we don’t like it!”  I felt that it was as innocent as it was definitive, and it felt perfect for the feeling I was trying to evoke with the song. I wanted it to be the soundtrack to the burning empire."

Additionally, the band's Laura Jane Grace (Against Me!) featuring single I Like You is now available to download and play on the video game Rock Band.

Speaking on the track at the time of release, MC offered  “Lyrically the song is about the giddy excitement you feel when you spark a new connection, and you feel seen by another person who ‘gets you’ – as much a friendship as a romantic connection. There is a level of comfort that comes with feeling understood and understanding another person – warts and all. It makes you feel accompanied through life and like you’re never sleeping alone anymore because they’re out there."

MC also discussed working with Laura Jane Grace, “I knew I wanted it to be a duet and our friend and label owner Cayle decided to be bold and dream big and asked Laura Jane Grace if she’d be interested in being involved. Laura is an ICON, so it goes without saying we lost our minds when she got back to us and said she liked the song and wanted to sing on it. Laura’s voice is so immediate and perfect, it has taken the song to a whole new level. It’s a total honour and dream to have Laura involved.”

Since bursting onto the scene in 2013 with their critically acclaimed Golden Fang EP, Bloods have maintained their place as one of Australia's most enduring and beloved punk bands. Whether it’s through their highly infectious, undeniably fun punk-pop-meets-riot-grrrl tunes or their live shows, Bloods has consistently been celebrated by critics and fans alike. A celebration of humanity and all that connects us, Together, Baby! is an album that is brimming with heart and charm.

Together, Baby! will be released on September 23 via Share It Music.
