More Empire Of The Sun More Empire Of The Sun

Fans have been sent into a tizzy today after PNAU dropped a major hint that they’ve joined forces with Empire of the Sun for a new banger.

Posting to social media on Thursday (Oct. 5), PNAU posted a clip titled “PNAU | Empire of The Sun - Pre Teaser” that featured a dreamy mix of both act’s most famous tracks, including EOTS’ 2008 hit Walking on a Dream.

Followers didn’t hold back their excitement over the potential collaboration, with one commenting: “Am I dreaming? Does that really say PNAU X EMPIRE OF THE SUN?!?! ☠💜💙💜 holy.... WOW! This will be sublime! 💙💜💙”

Another added, “Pnau with Empire = Magic,” while a third joked, “Nick finally collabing with ... Nick 😂 Keen!” in reference to muso Nick Littlemore being a member of both PNAU and Empire of the Sun.

New music from the Aussie music heavyweights would be particularly exciting for fans of Empire of the Sun, who haven’t new music from the pair since late 2016’s Two Vines, which featured the hit, High And Low.

The single also featured on the EA Sports game, FIFA 17. The band struggled to write music during 2020 and 2021, not getting much out of Zoom collaborations.

Last year, Luke Steele released his debut solo album, Listen To The Water, before headlining Now & Again festival in Werribee, Victoria, earlier this year, before playing a handful of shows in Sydney and Brisbane.

Steele also said at the beginning of this year that it was time EOTS made their return to the music scene — so could a collaboration with PNAU indicate that?

“I feel like this is the perfect time for Empire Of The Sun to come back,” Steele told The Music back in February.“Post-pandemic, after everything that’s happened, there’s obviously been a very clear shift on planet Earth.”

“I think there’s always been tremendous love for this band,” Steele continued, recalling the moments during lockdown.

“I had so many calls, emails, messages and requests from people yearning for the songs and the music. There were a lot of testimonies about what they’d been through, you know, from people getting over cancer to getting married to giving them hope during moments of deep depression.”

“It became quite evident that we had become conduits or ambassadors and we have to honour that. This is the new era of Empire Of The Sun.”

Meanwhile, PNAU — who were nominated for an ARIA this year for their single with Troye Sivan You Know What I Need — dropped yet another epic collab titled Stars back in May alongside Bebe Rexha and Puerto Rican crossover reggaeton sensation, Ozuna.

The dance trio will also be back in Australia at the end of the year for a run of festival shows. Check them out below — and stay tuned for any further news on a potential PNAU and EOTS drop.
