It's a big week for Brisbane artist Sycco.

More Sycco More Sycco

Apple Music is throwing its support behind Brisbane artist Sycco, aka 19-year-old Sasha McLeod, via its emerging talent initiative.

The music platform’s local Up Next program is “geared towards identifying and showcasing rising talent across Australia and New Zealand”, and Sycco is the latest act to be featured across Apple Music’s Australian Up Next playlist.

Sycco has also been named cover star of Apple Music’s FIRST, a playlist “showcasing the best, freshest music from First Nations artists across Australia”.

"I wrote Past Life a while ago in a session with Lucianbomkamp (the first time we met),” McLeod said of the single on her forthcoming Sycco's First EP, set for release this Friday via Future Classic.

“We wrote it quickly - the finished version is pretty close to the first writing demo. I like that this one shows my pop side but is still a different sort of psychedelic character!

“It's a song about having a deep connection with someone, so deep that you think you have met before in another life.”
