Much-loved DJ, Producer & Label Owner Andrew Weatherall Has Passed Away, Age 56

UK DJ, producer and label owner Andrew Weatherall has passed away, age 56. 

The news was confirmed by Weatherall's label, Rotters Golf Club, saying that "his death was swift and peaceful". 

"We are deeply sorry to announce that Andrew Weatherall, the noted DJ and musician passed away in the early hours of this morning, Monday 17th February 2020, at Whipps Cross Hospital, London," read the statement. 

"The cause of death was a pulmonary embolism. He was being treated in hospital but unfortunately the blood clot reached his heart. His death was swift and peaceful.

"His family and friends are profoundly saddened by his death and are taking time to gather their thoughts."

In addition to his solo work and time with groups like The Sabres Of Paradise and Two Lone Swordsmen, Weatherall was a highly regarded producer, having worked across Primal Scream's 1991 Mercury Music Prize-winning album Screamadelica

Weatherall founded Rotters Golf Club in 2001 and was also a part of Junior Boy's Own (JBO) records in the early '90s, which signed artists like The Chemical Brothers, Underworld and more. 

He also toured Australia frequently, last playing here in 2017. Touring wasn't Weatherall's only Australian connection though; he has also shared remixes of tracks by Australian acts like Confidence Man, Grinderman, Jagwar Ma and Cut Copy.
