After releasing a string of killer singles, including Wraith, The Great Depression, and most recently, the futuristic and industrial A.D.D., South Australia’s Alt. have announced their new album, Abeyance, which will be released on Friday, 16 June.

2023 is a massive year for Alt., from signing to Resist Records in Australia and Sharptone Records for the rest of the globe to opening for Saosin and featuring on the UNIFY Off The Record line-up. A new album signifies even bigger moments ahead for the Aussie metallers.

“We didn't really know what Abeyance was going to sound like initially,” vocalist Dan Richards revealed in a press release.

“The first two songs that we had for Abeyance were polar opposites from each other, they were Wraith and Better Off Leaving, the former being pretty much the first proper track and the latter being the last song on the album.

"We started off trying to fill in the gaps between those at first, but a few songs after that we really found what we wanted the sound to be - and it all really started with A.D.D., that was the first song we wrote that we were like: ‘Yep, this is the sound of Abeyance!’”

Alt. worked with heavy-hitters Marcus Bridge (Northlane), Landon Tewers (The Plot In You), Zach Britt (Dream On, Dreamer) and Trenton Woodley (Hands Like Houses), as well as producer Callan Orr, on Abeyance.

At the Northlane, Plini, Sleep Token, and Alt. show at The Tivoli last June, we said about Alt.: "they ripped out a high-energy set. They are a band turning heads here, there and everywhere, so it's unsurprising that when catching up with singer Daniel later, hearing that there is lots of label interest in their next release... which is sick to hear!
