ACT Launches Inaugural Music Awards

MusicACT will call the event The MAMAs

The Australian Capital Territory is set to get its own set of awards this year with MusicACT announcing the MusicACT Annual Music Awards – the MAMAs.

To be held in December this year and hosted by Paul McDermott, the ceremony will feature 19 awards covering a range of genres, including rock, folk, 'EDM' and orchestra.

Four main awards will be judged by the public after a shortlist is created by a panel of judges, while genre-specific awards will be industry voted.

Best ACT Rock/Alternative Artist
Best ACT Punk/Metal/Hardcore Artist
Best ACT Folk Artist
Best ACT Pop Artist
Best ACT EDM Producer
Best ACT Country Artist
Best ACT Urban Artist
Best ACT Jazz/Blues Artist
Best ACT Classical Solo/Ensemble
Best ACT Choral/Vocal Group
Best ACT Orchestra/Concert, Brass or Big Band

Judges include artist managers Gregg Donovan, Chris Reeves, music lecturer Greg Arnold and artist mentor Ian Pav, and submissions for consideration are now open here. They will close Monday 15 October.

The award ceremony will take place Friday 7 December at Canberra's Albert Hall. Tickets to the night, including food and drinks all night, are $30 for MusicACT members, $60 for non-members.
