Some of our finest bands and artists are making the trek to Brighton.

There will be a strong Australian contingent at The Great Escape festival in Brighton again this year, with 12 acts today confirmed to be a part of the mammoth UK musical showcase.

One act who has been announce won't be there though. This morning the management of Sydney post-rockers Sleepmakeswaves confirmed to theMusic.com.au that the band would not be making an appearance at the festival as advertised due to financial reasons.

The event is considered the UK's biggest showcase of new and emerging bands from all across the world as the city of Brighton is overrun by artists and music lovers alike. Running over three days, the event will this year showcase 350 bands in the majority of venues across Brighton.

The initial line up also includes acts such as Chvrches, Unknown Mortal Orchestra, Ed Harcourt and Title Fight, though there are more still to be announced.
