Yawn: Yawn was the first song that we ever wrote as a band. It was re-written and adjusted countless times, almost to the point where we wanted to scrap it and start on something completely new. Yawn really didn’t get the attention it deserved with writing until about a week before we went into the studio. We all decided that the song held too much meaning for us so we worked our asses off on it and it came out too what it is now. We wanted an opening chord that would hit hard and make the hairs on your arms stand up; something that one of our favourite bands Basement was so good at. We tried to capture that same feeling. – Sam

Grievances: This was a song we wrote in a dorm and I would say it's our darkest song in terms of lyrics. It's a short narrative of sorts. The character in the song is waiting outside of a house for someone and when he finally gets inside he's cut up and "left to bleed." To me it's a metaphor for waiting around for someone to make a choice and not making a fuss about it but when things finally end up being decided its a let down and not what you were hoping for.

No Calls on Your Birthday: The title of this song has to do with an incident when I was seventeen years old. I had a group of friends who I was already uncomfortable with and felt invisible around. That being said, I got no recognition from them on my birthday and sat in my basement by myself and ultimately thought of ways to get out. It all sounds so childish and angsty, but it was the most confused and alone I’ve ever felt in my life. From that moment on I left those people behind and moved on. Eric wrote the opening riff to this song a few years ago and when he showed it to us it was nothing less than perfect for this song. – Sam

Loose Leaves: This song is an extended metaphor. We originally kind of jammed it out one day and the lyrics were written later on by Sam and I in our friend Katie's dorm. It represents being constantly put in the back of someone's mind and being only taken out on a rainy day like a box full of letters under someone's bed. It supposed to invoke the feeling of being constantly shut out by someone you care about but then getting a drunk phone call from them at 3 in the morning. Then not hearing from them for another month. It's also kind of about having things to say but waiting too long never really being able to say it, the feeling of being an unread letter. –Charlie

Blur: Blur was written to describe the feeling of being alone in an unfamiliar place and how seemingly no one else can relate to what you're going through. The second verse was written more about my longing to confront these setbacks and to ultimately to find happiness somewhere in between. – Eric

Daydreamer:I wrote this song a year before we joined as a band, never intending to show it to anyone besides my girlfriend, once. It's about the highs and lows of being in high school. Love, broken friendships, daydreaming about walking out of Mr. Reiling's religion class and how a lot of people i knew changed for the better or worse during this formative time. -Eric
