"It’s been quite a few days since I posted. The shows since Montreal, mostly around Quebec haven’t been as good for us as most of Ontario was but we’ve still been having a great time. The cultural experience has been awesome too, in some of the towns we’ve been to, many people don’t speak a word of English which surely keeps things interesting, especially when you’re ordering something to eat.

Right now we are driving back south from a small town we played in last night called Jonquiere, and the road goes through a few hundred kilometers of a national park. The scenery is absolutely astounding. The pine forest is dotted with lakes, some gigantic as far as you can see, others not much bit bigger than pools. They’re all a dark navy and rippling with small waves from the wind outside. Every now and then we’ll drive past some trees shedding their leaves as it’s autumn here, giving off shades of orange, yellow and even deep reds. It’s postcard worthy and I almost feel like we are intruding on the serenity just by passing through. Even though we live on this earth I often feel at times like this that we are in a place where humans just don’t belong. Once upon a time the whole world used to be like this, it’s scary just how badly we’ve raped this planet as a species. I am so grateful I get to travel with my friends and experience this stuff, otherwise I would never have understood.

We’ve got a day off tomorrow and then our last show of the tour, I can’t believe it’s almost over. The past week has probably been the most enjoyable, we have become good friends with all the other bands and on our day off a few days ago we all ended up staying at the same hotel purely by chance. It was one hell of a wild night.

We started off by going to see a movie, the only one on that looked ok was Judge Dredd and it sucked so bad. Don’t go and see that movie. You’ve been warned. When we got back to the hotel the party had already started. The highlight of the night was a UNO game and the loser had to get an obscenity which I can’t write here tattooed on them. This was the real deal, Miguel, Obey the Brave’s bass player who is a tattoo artist and doing work before the shows had his gear set up in the next room. One of the backtrack dudes lost and then flaked out on the deal. Weak, but I don’t blame him. Before the night was over someone had pissed off a roof, the police showed up twice and everyone just got real buck. Not like our band at all, we don’t really party and I can’t believe nobody got kicked out.

Following on from this at one of the shows in a small French Canadian town, John the drummer from backtrack decided to play naked. Then the crowd started chanting “cock snare” so he stood up and whacked his snare with his dick and then the show started. It was funny as all hell and the dude did not give the slightest shit. Props to him.

I’m really going to miss all these guys, The last show tomorrow in Ottawa is apparently sold out, very keen to end this awesome tour with a great show."
