Respected local pop punk outfit Skyway have announced their intentions to go on hiatus.

The band offered the official update on their Facebook page today.

"So heres the big news guys. Its good and bad.

After four years, five releases, ten bass players, thousands of kilometers and hours spent in the van, consequent endangered road kill and countless amounts of shows and stories SKYWAY have decided to go on hiatus from November.

We're still as good mates as we were when we got into this, it's just that life is taking us all in different directions at this time.

The good news is we're not going out quietly...

Not only have we got brand new digital EP on the way but this September/October we'll be heading out on a final Australian tour with Monuments and Built On Secrets.

There's a long list of people that we should thank here by name but we'd probably blow it.

To everyone who has ever invested time or energy into us, bought our music, come to a show, push moshed to our kissy boy songs, shared our lyrics with us, bought our merch, picked us up from an airport, let us crash at their absent parents house, driven our van, lent us gear, cooked us food, fixed our van Toady, let us play in their parents basement etc etc etc....

Thank you, it's because of you that SKYWAY was able to go from nothing to something.

We'd like to give out a special mention out to Jye Strong our original bass player taken from us, Chris Brazier, Michael James Driver, our families, Takedown Records, Inyaface Records, Daniel Bromley Field, Drew Brown, Matt Leost, Dale Hughes, Studio 454, Sam Saljooghi, Nigel Meldor, Daniel Misztal, Collateral Manage, Troy Brady and the amity afflictions, Triple J, Stu Harvey, Dan Strong, Steve Evetts, Union Rd Crew, Booth, Sada, James Johnson and DTAS."

The band's final tour dates are as follows:

Friday September 28 - Elsewhere, Gold Coast - 18 **
Thursday October 11 - Hot Damn, Sydney - 18
Friday October 12 - Alpha Park, Blacktown - AA
Saturday October 13 - Bang, Melbourne - 18 *
