Thriller shut down

In what is yet another big blow for live music and venues in Queensland, the venue that hosts the Saturday night party that is "Thriller" In Brisbane, has been shut down.

A Statement has been released on the following:

"Thriller and live music in Brisbane has been fucked over by another venue!

Just when we had a good thing going with Thriller at Hotel Orient, it turns out the useless guy running the bar apparently hadn't been paying the rent. When we went to chat some shit about Thriller on Monday morning at Hotel Orient, we found the locks had been changed and the owners of the building sent in some tough guys ...to keep us out.

We've been told that Thriller this Saturday night is definitely not happening and that we need to look for a new home for the future. No one has a licence to run the joint and they're off the idea of us having a house party in there...

For the past six months we have brought in a loyal heavy drinking crowd to the Hotel Orient every Saturday night. We've put on the best local, interstate and international bands and created an awesome Saturday night venue for party fun-times.

Hotel Orient made all the money off the bar. (You know how many nights the bar was drunk dry... That's a dick-load of money for them). While Thriller (we) paid for the stage hire, production, sound guys, lights, PA and DJ gear, door staff, bands and DJs. Being told we can no longer continue our party is yet another blow to the live music scene in Brisbane.

Now, most flash-in-the-pan club night promoting schmucks would lay down and take that news like a submissive little bitch.  We've been through several dodgy venues though, so we're going to take it in our stride and find somewhere better than Hotel Orient!

Stay tuned while we work out where we're going to take Thriller. Remember that Thriller is the best hardcore/punk club night in Brisbane.  We book the best bands, have the most chilled vibe and are the original. Fuck all imitators!

Until we fix up and rehouse Thriller, remember that we throw the best Thursday night party in the Valley as well! Snitch @ X&Y Bar! Three bands, three bars, three rooms of music, outdoor smoking area, always a tonne of free shit to giveaway, free video games, delicious jungle juice and Rekorderlig cider...

Our Boxing Day Billionaire night with Mourning Tide, Tyrants, Nuclear Summer and Amberain has been moved to X&Y Bar and will go ahead as planned on Monday 26 December!
