MacNeil will replace Frank Carter who left the group earlier in the year. MacNeil made the following comments:

"After the boys decided they were going to keep going, my name kind of popped up, and they all thought it made sense. It didn't overcomplicate itself. I talked to Steph [Carter, guitarist], and I said I was definitely interested. He pretty much said, "OK, let's do it," and I got on a plane and we're writing right now."

MacNeil -- who spent the flight over to London listening to Gallows' first two studio albums -- also said that the group started working on some new tracks including a "brutal" 35-second tune described as the heaviest thing Gallows have done.

MscNeil added:

"I think this is something I can do and something I really want to do, but I'm not interested in coming on and replacing anybody."
